Take three: Robin Carnahan, McCaskill and Nixon

ST. LOUIS — Missouri Democratic Party Chairman Craig Hosmer is encouraging party members to book their seats right away for next month’s Jefferson-Jackson Dinner — and for good reason.

For party faithful, it’s going to be a hot ticket.

The annual Dem dinner in downtown St. Louis is the state party’s annual pep rally — the menu might be rubber chicken, but the speeches are red meat.

Featured at the April 18 event will be Gov. Jay Nixon, the new top Dem in Jefferson City’ U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill, who is quickly becoming one of Capitol Hill’s most recognizable faces; and Secretary of State Robin Carnahan, who has a unified party behind her as she seeks to join McCaskill in the Senate.

Last year, Democrats honored three lions of the state party — Dick Gephardt, Bill Clay and Jean Carnahan, Robin’s mom.

This year, looks for Dems to shelve the nostalgia as they seek to maintain the momentum that saw the party return to the governor’s office and the White House.

The dinner will once again be at the Renaissance Grand ballroom on Washington Avenue.

Take notice Republicans: the Democrats encourage their women in leadership to speak at major Party dinners.

While the good ole’ boys speak at the GOP functions, Sarah Steeleman is pushed off into some corner and told to remain silent.

As all the insiders stand in line behind their boy Roy, you have to wonder how many of them are thinking in the back of their head …”Seriously, again this year, we’re being told to stand with another earmark-lovin’, wasteful-spending, lobbyist-adoring Washington Congressman? Maybe I’ll be the first one to jump ship and join with Sarah. Not only does she actually reflect my values, but she has a better chance of winning. Where is Kenny Hulshof these days anyway?”

Interesting Lush get’s it. Roy Blunt will be a rerun of Hulsof. Good Ole Roy is tied to Bush and the mess the DC Republicans made of the economy. To say nothing of two wars without end.
