Giannoulias forms ‘exploratory’ committee to run for Ill. Senate

Alexi Giannoulias, the Illinois state treasurer, announced today he had formed an exploratory committee to run for Senate next year.
He’s got a website , he’s got a top priority (the economy of course) and he says working families are hungry for new leadership.
Interestingly, his website says he was elected treasurer in 2006 as an ‘independent Democrat.’ I don’t remember hearing that exact turn of phrase in the thick of the race, but I don’t remember seeing too many Illinois treasurer ads in the St. Louis market.
He would be trying to replace the embattled Roland Burris, who has his hands full fighting off calls for his resignation. ,
Soon Burris will be in the “untouchable mood”. His support gathers strength of minorities and now sitting politicain will want to upset that group. So, whether you like him or not, he is there for the duration. He will have that seat for as long as he wants!
