The city's Democratic Primary for mayor is Tuesday

ST. LOUIS — Tomorrow, city voters will head to the polls to weigh-in on candidates for mayor and aldermen.

Mayor Francis Slay faces two other Democrats in his bid for a third term. In ward races, half the Board of Aldermen — the odd-numbered wards — are no the ballot.

Several incumbent face tough challenges, while open seats have generated crowded races in the 23th and 25th Wards.

Even so, the election has been mostly low-key, if no other reason than the nation’s new president and economic woes have overshadowed local political contests.

It’s still an election, though, with lots at stake for the city and all of those involved.

Look for final results here at STLtoday.com. I’ll also post them here at Political Fix, which will be updated throughout the day with video and other tidbits from the polls. Please check out my Twitter page, as well, for frequent Election Day updates.

In the mean time, take a guess what tomorrow holds:

What will be the turnout?

Democratic primary:
Slay 49% (i.e., less than a majority)
Smith 39% (up from 30% four years ago)
D W-W Coleman 12% (potentially the spoiler)
Another case for instant runoff voting (IRV)

Green primary:
Will draw fewer than a hundred votes. McCowan will win.

Though I think Slay will win (primarily because he has tons of campaign money, not because he is all that great), I would love to wake-up Wednesday with Irene Smith as the Democratic nominee.

Democratic Primary:
Irene Smith: 45% (City Progressives, African Americans, women, anti-Slays, “Obamabounce” votes, pro-public schools, parents, etc.)
Francis Slay: 42% (Pro-Big Business, pro-Life dems, etc.)
DWWC: 13% (People who thought they were voting for Maida Coleman) ;)

Green Party primary:
McGowan wins, but by how much, I don’t think anyone really knows. As the Oracle pointed out, the dynamics of such as race remain to be discovered. :)

General Election:
Maida Coleman: 53% (City progressives, anti-Irenes, and such)
Irene Smith: 38% (Hardcore Democratic Nominee-Only Vote)
McGowan: 8% (Greens, “Alternatives”)
That Libertarian Guy: 1%(Disaffected City Republicans)

Zoo administrators alive, zoo animals not. Close it down while some still remain alive. Zoos are nice, but not for animals, especially elephants, primates, and live animals.
And re other primates: Slay 60%+, everyone else who should have gotten out of Maida’s (the real Coleman) way, less than 40%, maybe way less. And I get to rest for a change, if you call math substituting and tutoring resting.
