Rachel Bringer: Allen Icet is killing my bills
JEFFERSON CITY — Two noncontroversial bills from Rep. Rachel Bringer, D-Palmyra, didn’t get heard Tuesday night in the House Rules Commitee, even though the bills were on the schedule.
Budget Chairman Allen Icet said he wouldn’t consider her amendment, which would allow hospital providers to pay a higher rate, until he heard from the providers. But when their lobbyist showed up, Icet didn’t speak to him.
Bringer said she heard from other Democrats, including Minority Floor Leader Paul LeVota, and ranking Rules Committee Democrat Mike Talboy, that because of the amendment, the Rules Committee will kill her bills until Icet and other Republican leaders say differently.
“I’m disappointed that the chair of the Budget Committee chose the retaliate in this manner,” she said
Just to be clear: In the last-day bustle, I missed Mike Parson, the Rules chairman, several times, and therefore I haven’t heard the Republican side of things, so keep that in mind. I’ll try to update after break, when I hear back from someone in the party.

Rachel should try singing her requests to the Ice-T man. Her wonderful voice might break his resolve and ICE cold veins!
Republican side of things- Even if it costs Missouri nothing, we don’t want people to have healthcare.
So, you are saying this Icet guy is sort of like a Republican Nancy Pelosi, right? Funny, I never see anything here about her shutting out Republicans.
IT is a lie that the plan doesn’t cost MO nothing. It is all MO taxpayer money. Plus the fact that the feds could end the program at anytime that the “extra” money comes from - Icet is making a good decision.
This appears to be another one of those “I say it therfore it is true” statements. Where is her proof? As an attorney - she knows heresay evidence is inadmissable.
But once again the press fails to do their job and get proof. It’s a lot more fun to print fallacious statements than facts.
When Bob Griffin was speaker, pretty much any bill with a Republican’s name on it died in committee. Is such partisanship good? Nah. But the P-D is hardly in a position to complain about it, as we never heard a peep back in those days.

Typical PD “reporting” - I’m amazed the PD admits they are only reporting one side without talking to the other side! But hey, after a week or so, maybe we’ll talk about this again???????????????
Would Miss Rachel like a little bit of cheese to go with that?
Hey, Rep. Bringer … it’s called politics. You signed up for it.
It’s amazing how much the dems whine and complain when they’re treated far better as a minority party than republicans were treated by their predecessors.
Frankly, I think Icet should go ahead and let her bills and amendments come up. Then he has a chance to vote them down and move on.
What is Bringer crying about, this is called politics. If you want to screw with the party in control be ready to pay the price. There are Republicans last year who didn’t even get a hearing due to the fact they didn’t play by their party’s own rules. Did the Post write a story about that? No.
missour-ee repuplikans say…
it’s ok to keep denying health care to the kids of missour-ee…
because it’s just ‘politics’…
sad.
Bean… Missour-ee has “denied” health care to me, my children, and my grandchildren our entire lives. So we just went out and got it in spite of ‘em.
