ST. LOUIS — U.S. Rep. Lacy Clay and former U.S. Sen. John Danforth will share a panel this evening for a session of the NewsHour being filmed in St. Louis.

The popular PBS show hosted by veteran broadcaster Jim Lehrer is in St. Louis for its “spotlight city” series on the economy and other issues.

The show has already visited several St. Louis landmarks, including the Arch, the Zoo and Sumner High.

Tonight, Clay, a second-generation Democratic lawmaker, and Danforth, a prominent Republican, will tape a panel discussion on President Barack Obama’s first 100 days in office — which Obama himself will mark with a town hall in Arnold.

Joining the panel as well are St. Charles Mayor Patti York and housing advocate Christopher Krehmeyer. The moderator of the panel will be NewsHour correspondent Gwen Ifill who moderated the vice presidential debate at Washington University last year.

The session is expected to air Wednesday evening, and include footage of the president’s visit.

Delightful. Lacy Clay can be Lacy Clay, John Danforth can mouth his recent platitudes about how conservative troglodytes are discomfiting him and his fellow country-club Republicans, all can warble the praises of the Lord-High Obama, and a good time will be had by all whilst revering the rise of the South Paw.

Two liberals on PBS. What’s news about that?
