Missouri House will work almost exclusively on Senate bills starting next week
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
JEFFERSON CITY — With only three weeks left of session, any bill that hasn’t gotten out of the first chamber is probably dead.
And even most of the bills passed through the House this week won’t get floor time in the Senate. But today, the body powered through bills and resolutions in what Floor Leader Steven Tilley said was their last chance to get out this session.
Here are some of the proposals passed by the House today:
- HB 64: Would change tax policy, including lowering the income tax for those in higher brackets.
- HB 228: Makes the law about petition forgery stricter
- HB 316: Changes the Sunshine Law
- HB 384: Omnibus crime bill
- HB 390: Bans illegal immigrants from enrolling in public universities
- HB 426: The Large Carnivore Act — regulates ownership of large carnivores such as tigers and bears
- HB 568: Encourages those seeking a hunting or fishing license to register to vote
- HJR 11: A Missouri constitutional amendment that reaffirms First Amendment religious freedoms
- HJR 15: Exempts former prisoners of war from some taxes
- HJR 17: Allows money taken from the Rainy Day fund to be paid back more slowly
