SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - Adding to a list of more than 400 specially designated months in Illinois, lawmakers today made June “Leave No Child Inside Month.”

The resolution states that children know more about television characters than they do about common plants and animals and touts the benefits of playing and exploring outdoors.

Lawmakers and governors frequently designate months to raise awareness for diseases and other causes.

We reported last month about the hundreds of special months Illinois has.  The Missouri Legislature, by contrast, has only designated one month:  February is “Lifelong Learning Month.”
