Nasheed, colleagues to host stimulus forum tonight
Nasheed
ST. LOUIS — A day after President Barack Obama’s visit, State Rep. Jamilah Nasheed is hosting a town hall forum of her own, focusing on the federal stimulus plan.
Nasheed, along with other members of the city’s State House caucus, have organized the event for tonight at Harris-Stowe University, which includes a “networking” time from 4 to 6 p.m., and a panel discussion from 6 to 8 p.m.
The panel will include Barbara Geisman, Mayor Francis Slay’s chief development aide, Kelvin Simmons from the governor’s office, and MoDot engineer Ed Hassinger.
The event, in the Emerson Auditorium, is free and open to the public, and comes as partisan and regional differences have emerged on what to do with the state’s share of economic recovery dollars.
