Mo. Legislature to have interim stimulus oversight committee
JEFFERSON CITY — The House of Representatives has approved by a vote of 89 to 72 an interim committee made up of representatives and senators to oversee the use of ARRA funds.
The Senate previously approved the measure 33 to 0.
Some Democrats in the House criticized a line in the resolution referring to the “confusion” of the stimulus act, saying that was a swipe at President Barack Obama.
Rep. Jake Zimmerman, D-Olivette, said this was “beneath the dignity of the General Assembly.”
There was some confusion during voting about whether the resolution would have to go back to the Senate, or the interim committee would immediately be in effect.
