State Treasurer Clint Zweifel has had enough of the elected commuter life.

After three terms in the State House forced him to travel from his home in north St. Louis County to the state Capitol, the Democrat has sold his home in Hazelwood and moved to Columbia, just down the highway from his new Jefferson City office.

Zweifel, 35, was elected to statewide office in November.

Boone County records show Zweifel and his wife recently closed on a four-bedroom home in Columbia. The move is “bitterwseet,” a spokesman says, because Zweifel had spent his entire life in the Hazelwood area.

Zweifel attended Hazelwood West high and, later, University of Missouri-St. Louis. He plans on enrolling his two children in Columbia schools this fall.

His new home, though, is just a few miles from the Mizzou campus annd Faurot Field — which should make him popular with other Democrats when college football season begins.

I don’t get it. Why should the location of his new home make him popular among Democrats?

I have said it before and I will say it again…

Why is this news?

I care about this just about as much as I care about what Clint had for breakfast. How about some real stories.

I, for one, am happy for Treasurer Zweifel. Now he will get to spend more time with his beautiful wife and lovely little girls.

Congrats, Clint!

This response is really late but I have been out of town, so for what its worth…

I don’t find my comment negative. I am just saying I don’t think this story is news worthy. If there was a story about, for example, Kinder moving to Jefferson City from Cape Girardeau I would say the same thing (honestly I don’t know if Kinder lives in JC or CG because it doesn’t really matter).
