This might be the first time in freshman GOP Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer’s short career that he is agreeing with the Obama administration.

The Mid-Missouri Republican this morning released a statement saying that he has signed on to a bill preventing the release of photos of American detainees abroad.

““We should do everything we can to protect Americans, including those in uniform, and releasing these photos could ultimately be used as recruitment tools for extremists and terrorists bent on destroying our way of life,” Luetkemeyer said in a statement. “I also am concerned that the release of these photos would put our brave men and women in uniform serving throughout the world at greater risk of attack.”

The Detainee Photographic Records Protection Act was introduced in the House by Texas Republican Mike Conaway and in the Senate by Connecticut Independent Joe Lieberman.
