Thanks to Bud, Slay has his first big check for 2013

Slay

While the new bosses on Pestalozzi Street have been criticized for appearing chintzy in their interaction with the community, Anheuser-Busch InBev remains committed to helping local political campaigns.

Even if the timing is a bit head-scratching.

Anheuser-Busch made a $5,000 campaign contribution to Mayor Francis Slay on June 19 — more than two months after he was easily re-elected to a third term.

It’s anybody’s guess why the Brewery waited until well after the election to donate. Slay hardly needs the help — he’s got no debt and still more than $344,000 cash on hand.

While Slay has amended his campaign committee to reflect a 2013 run, that, for now at least, is a formality. Any decision to run or not run again is months — or, more likely, years — away.

Slay stinks. He’s just better than the other jerks that have run.

Same methods, same results. Isn’t there some sort of term limit for mayor of this cowtown? If not, there should be.

He’s not better than all the other jerks that have run. Just better financed. There’s a difference. Theoretically. Not that the difference matters much sometimes on election day.

Hmmmm, only Democrats have been elected mayor for the past 50+ years, and the city has gone to hell, if not worse. I wonder if there is any kind of connection here? Nah, just a coincidence I am sure.

Maybe if a certain segment of the city community actually looked a candidates from all parties instead of blidly looking at a single party then maybe things would improve, if not slightly.

At school one time, we picked between a giant dousche and a turd sandwich, the winner to represent our school mascot. Picking between candidates for political office, especially the most recent St Louis election, is exactly the same decision.

There are term limits, it’s called election cycles. IF you don’t like the current administration then find a viable candidate and back them. It’s that simple. Get your person out and have them pound the streets and press the flesh. Have them out out more of their message then just platitudes about bringing back racial harmony. Have your candidate have real ideas and have them out forth their message. I belong to a neighborhood association, my currently elected alderman and the mayor both took the time to show up and listen to citizen concerns. One other aldermanic candidate showed up, she came in a close second. NONE of the other candidates showed up. So if I am going to vote am I going to vote for someone that has a crafted message with details of what they want to do or the person who simply campaigns on the fact that they’re not the incumbent? If you think you can do better then the current mayor then run a better candidate. Otherwise you’re just wasting everyones time with cliched phrases.

Slay is a good man. He has devoted his career to St. Louis. I do not understand why many of you are against him. His only down fall is that he is a democrat.

You should be calling your congressman today and telling them to vote against Cap and Trade (Cap and Tax). This bill is going to raise all our energy costs and loss millions of jobs for this country. Missouri is going to be really hurt, this state runs on coal. Obama is destroying capitalism. If this bill passes I have the right to call any democrat any bad name I want. When you start costing me thousands of dollars a year I draw the line. If democrats want to spend all this money, then only registerd dems should pay.
