With Obama and “Say Hey Kid,” Air Force One touches down
BRIDGETON — The night’s starting pitcher, President Barack Obama, landed shortly before 5:30 p.m. at an auxiliary runway near Lambert St. Louis International Airport.
The president, scheduled to throw out tonight’s ceremonial first pitch at the All-Star Game, was not alone. Joining Obama on Air Force One was baseball Hall of Famer Willie Mays.
The president, wearing jeans and a light black jacket, walked Mays down the stairway leading to the tarmac before jumping in his motorcade. Obama had been in Michigan, where he delivered an address on community colleges.
Earlier in the day, he had told reporters at the White House that he hoped to replicate his last first pitch, which came in 2005 when his beloved Chicago White Sox won the World Series.
Obama, then a U.S. Senator, recalled he just wanted “to keep it high.”
The president arrived at Busch stadium about 6 p.m., with his motorcade parking near the closed Highway 40 (Interstate 64).

Just think Bob Gibson Mr. President and you shall perform like a Hall of Fame
flame thrower.
Stop gushing Jake…
tsquare–right–like you wouldn’t be “gushing” if that colossal FREAK-SHOW Sarah Palin was here doing the same…though in her case, the balls would most likely be thrown AT her since she is such a phoney-baloney, LYING, media-hungry, hypocritical “Christian.”
anti,
You sound like a typical bitter left-wing extremist. Of course the description you give of Palin also fits your so-called leader Obozo to a ‘T’. Phony, liar, media hungry, hypocrite.
anti-GOP Warrior…Don’t be such an obvious D-Bag. You can stand up for your party without tearing someone else down. Respect begats respect.
Mick…when you open your mouth, you expel a display of ignorance that looks like the 4th of July. Are you so uneducated and backward that you cannot join the rest of us in the 21st century??? Your post is extremely offensive and makes you look a racist retard. Kindly keep your racist remarks to yourself and stop embarrassing those of us who can see the need for everyone to get along and have respect. You can voice your opinion without bringing someones skin color into it. How small that makes you look.
Mick….what an embarrassment you are….the definition of a racist pig. Go crawl back under your rock.
Lovely….his comment was removed! Back to enjoying the game!
Willie Mays! When I was a kid he was my favorite baseball player. I hope the President was impressed.
Check out the video of Willie Mays on Air Force One, and of Obama in the Fox Booth.
