Club owner says no to smoking ban, yes to “Freedom City”
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
ST. LOUIS — Mike “Talayna” Faille, owner of Mike Talayna’s Juke Box Restaurant on Hampton, testified this afternoon against the smoking ban at a City Hall hearing.
The hearing, as of this writing, is still going — and could be for a while.

As a sixth generation St. Louisan, I say Mike gets the name of his town right.
I hope Mike is a city resident because then, he can run for alderman. If he’s in my ward, he’d get my vote. No, I wouldn’t say he’s articulate or polished and the sleeveless t-shirt is bad news. But I bet if he were on the board of aldermen, you’d never have to worry about him taking a leak in a trash can in the council chambers. IF YOU DON’T LIKE CIGARETTE SMOKE (as I don’t), GO TO A RESTAURANT THAT HAS A SMOKE-FREE POLICY OR STAY HOME.
you people prove why STL is seen as a bunch of backwoods bumpkins….
yes, I as a consumer can go to a different bar or restaurant, but what about the employees? what about their right to breathe freely? do you not give a sh*t about that? apparently you don’t, only about your right to kill yourself slowly (and others as well). if you can’t walk outside the door because of your addiction, maybe your shouldn’t be in a bar anyway.
also, what about bands at clubs… can I only go see bands in the handful of non-smoking bars? then what happens when my favorite bar comes to a smoking bar? I’m SOL I guess.. huh? You people haven’t thought any of this through logically, you only start from the premise that YOU NEED TO SMOKE WHEN AND WHERE YOU WANT. well, guess what, this is a pluralistic society and your days of harming your fellow citizens are numbered.
another right they take away they would even do air studies of indoor air. 95% of all lung cancers are nonsmokers!
If you pansies don’t like the smoke in a particular bar, then go to the Oz or another respectable bar that has no smoking. You might get shived, but at least your lungs will be clean.
