House call: Republican state lawmakers get visit from Newt
A resurgent Newt Gingrich will visit the St. Louis area today to commend three local GOP lawmakers on the state’s health care system.
Gingrich will recognize the legislators for advances in the state Medicaid program that, according to a news release from the State Senate communications office, make it easier to determine what a provider charged for a health care service.
The group of lawmakers include State Rep. Brian Yates, from Lee’s Summit and State Sens. Scott Rupp of Wentzville and Eric Schmitt of Glendale. The trio, and possibly others, will greet Gingrich at the St. Louis County Library headquarters in Frontenac at 1 p.m.
After several years of staying relatively quiet after his departure from Capitol Hill, Gingrich has re-emerged on the national GOP scene. He’s also founded a health care advocacy group, the Center for Health Transformation.
No word on whether Gingrich’s stop will include a fundraiser or other political event.
