Karl Rove coming to Clayton to stump against EFCA
JEFFERSON CITY — Bush and Rove back together again. Well, sort of anyway.
William H. T. “Bucky” Bush (uncle of former President George W. Bush) and the Missouri Chamber of Commerce are sponsoring a fund-raiser to help the Chamber fight the Employee Free Choice Act, and former Bush strategist Karl Rove is the keynote speaker.
The July 15 event is at the St. Louis Club in Clayton and will cost $1,000 to get in. Chambers of Commerce nationally have opposed the EFCA, suggesting that the act will eliminate secret ballot elections when employees organize unions.
The bill doesn’t eliminate the secret ballot, but takes away the employer mandate, and makes other regulatory changes that tilt the union forming process in labor’s direction. Unions argue that under the current system, employers face no legitimate repercussions for intimidating employees against forming unions.
The bill has been the labor movement’s top priority as Democrats took control of Congress and the White House, but it has stalled because of stiff opposition.

2 points stick out in Tony’s article…
1.) The July 15 event is at the St. Louis Club in Clayton and will cost $1,000 to get in.
2.) The bill doesn’t eliminate the secret ballot, but takes away the employer mandate, and makes other regulatory changes that tilt the union forming process in labor’s direction. Unions argue that under the current system, employers face no legitimate repercussions for intimidating employees against forming unions.
now…
which side is the average, middle-class, American worker on?
If you thought yourself an average, middle-class American worker and you belonged to the UAW — how’s that working out for you ??
Who killed the Golden Goose if not the UAW Senior Management Team?
===
The Corporate Party will meet for $1,000 a plate at a Clayton Country Club to hear Karl Rove bash American workers. Rove will do this under the guise of his insideous concerned for workers rights.
Why is Rove concerned about workers rights? He never cared about wokers before.
Rove held a similar event in Peoria where 40 scab employers and rat businessmen showed up while hundreds of union workers protested outside.
Rove & Co. lied about Iraq. Lied about torture. Lied about deregulation. Lied about U.S. Attorneys. Lied about the economy….But now, Rove is telling the truth about EFCA.
For $1,000, I hope he does his “Rap Dance” for the country-club smacks.
A recent Cornell study reveals 92% of private sector employers force workers to attend closed-door captive audience meetings where they are forced to hear anti-union propaganda…80% of employers require supervisors to attend training sessions attacking unions where they must discuss anti-union attacks to the employees they oversee.
If a union organizer mentions the word “UNION” on the job-site, he’s fired.
Oh, well…As long as it’s a level playing field.
Garrison,
–You still haven’t explained this little gem:
“Did you ever notice many the same people who deny the truth about climate change also question Germany’s extermination of the Jews in 1930? Is there a pattern here?”–GARRISON–
–You have proven with this and other posts, that you are wantonly lacking in sense or decorum. Why should anybody respond to, or even read your ridiculous posts?
The only saving grace about this event is that the only people who will hear Rove are people he already has under his spell. He will be preaching to the choir. Now what should happen is that any union member that has anything to do with the St. Louis Club will refuse to perform their jobs that day. Everyone call in sick. No deliveries, no utility service and repair, etc. That would get their attention.
Or have all the union BA’s buy a ticket and ask Karl some questions.
Dryan, I bet if Rove is asked questions he won’t need a teleprompter to answer.
–Nice job of obfuscation.
–To say the “bill doesn’t eliminate the secret ballot” may be true semantically. But the “changes” you speak of will make the union the “chooser”, not the employee.
–The simple fact is that the option will never be executed because of the way the bill is written.
–Do you really think that a union will take the path of most resistance?
–Do you really think the union will elect not to have the NLRB recognize the union by simply providing signed cards?
–As this bill is proposed, the EFCA will eliminate the secret ballot.
–The writer’s of this bill have come up with a clever and deceitful way to represent the word “choice”.
D.Bunkery…It’s just my personal observation from listening to Ditto’s on Rush or talking to wacky neighbors. Man didn’t walk on the moon. Germany didn’t execute 6 million Jews…and climate change is a hoax.
The same people who believe George W. Bush was one of our greatest presidents.
Mr. ill-logic…Union leaders and others from across the country have challenged Rove to a debate on EFCA…Want to guess his response?

“…It’s just my personal observation from listening to Ditto’s on Rush or talking to wacky neighbors. Man didn’t walk on the moon. Germany didn’t execute 6 million Jews…and climate change is a hoax.”-Garrison-
–Funny, I listen to Rush regularly, as well as Dennis Miller, and others from the opposite perspective. Have never heard one conversation that included even a remote passage to any of this.
–But there is a long record of idiotic statements from you, such as this, so was just wondering where you get your “inspiration”.
–Admittedly am surprised you actually tried to justify it, but in reading your “justification”, am not surprised at your delusional response.
–At least everybody else can also see what a fool looks and sounds like.
Bob Z can you point out exactly who the UAW Senior Management Team is? Can you tell me how many cars and trucks the UAW designed?
I’ll go through this once again for all of you. The UAW’s cost per vehicle is less than 10% of the total cost, the same today when the “Big 3″ are struggling financially as it was when the Big 3 were making record profits. If it’s the labor costs of the UAW driving the Big 3 into bankruptcy then how do you explain the huge losses reported? They are not UAW.
The Employee Free Choice ACT gives the decision on whether or not to have a secret ballot to the employees and forces the company to recognize the results of the choices made by the employees. The UAW had a sucessful organizing drive at St. Clair Tool and Die years ago. The company refused to recognize the collective bargaining rights of their employees and was able to keep the UAW out of their plant. No penalty, no fine, no recourse for the employees that WANTED to belong to a union.
You are hilarous Logic Prevails. When you have nothing to say you trot out the old “teleprompter” gig. What a joke.
