New Tea Party tactic: Costume blitz for Saturday’s protests

Dude, what's your costume going to be?
ST. LOUIS — Members of the local Tea Party coalition have tried everything from turning their backs on opponents to spilling herbs into the Mississippi River.
Their strategy for this weekend’s round of protests? Halloween in August.
Tea Party organizers are encouraging supporters to dress for the part when they show up outside lawmakers’ office for “recess rally” events Saturday at noon.
Those visiting U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill’s St. Louis headquarters are asked to don “American Revolution” costumes– fife and drums, triangle hats, Colonial wigs.
Garb for coalition members stopping by the office of U.S. Rep. Russ Carnahan, who has been hit hardest by the local Tea Party broadside, may border on vulgar — ” think 5th grade boy humor” the group’s website says.
Lest anyone think that the Tea Party is not paying attention to Republican lawmakers as well, the coalition is also planning a presence outside GOP Congressman Todd Akin’s office.
The requested theme for the Akin event will be a bit different, though: participants are asked to display their “gratitude.”

You can’t feel the beatdown in a San Diego Chicken costume.
might I suggest they dress like what they are, a bunch of clowns.
You missed the most important part of their announcement: “This is the LAST major Tea Party event in the metro area for 2009.” I don’t know why they’d be having their last event in mid-August. It’s not like Congress is going to take the rest of the year off.
Gee, thank Akin for what…doing nothing the entire time he’s been in the Congress? I guess doing nothing is the new highmark for the wackos in the “tea bagger” movement. Have these guys ever look at the New Urban Dictionary about ewhat “teabagging” is? Yyyyeeeeeech!
I agree with you guys!

Or keeping with their 1776 ideology, they can dress like the UMass Minuteman mascot.
Am I missing the part about encouraging people to “dress up” for these rallies in the linked site?
I will be working Saturday. Have to earn some money….gonna have to help pay for everyone else that isn’t working.
We thank Todd Akin for remembering the oath he took to uphold the Constitution and just who he represents.
“5th grade boy humor” for Russ… just to make sure he understands… he seems stuck at our around 5th grade.
As far as Claire… it is to remind Her Majesty that the people will not be denied.
May I be the first to say: Tim Hogan is an idiot.

Bob Z, you won’t be the first to say it … only the most recent.
Frankly, I think the whole “dressing up” thing seems a bit silly.
