Russ Carnahan’s new PR aide gets thrown into fray

U.S. Rep. Russ Carnahan’s new communications director began work Monday– just in time to land feet first in the summer maelstrom over health care.
Carnahan has been at the center of the contentious debate — not as much because of anything he’s done, but because of the St. Louis Tea Party members who have vociferously picketed his public events.
The St. Louis Democrat will get some help in the PR department now that he has filled the vacant communications post with Sara Howard, very familiar to both Missouri politics and the Carnahan family.
Howard previously worked on the U.S. Senate campaign of the Congressman’s father, Mel Carnahan, who won posthumously over John Ashcroft.
She has also worked for the Service Employees International Union and the labor-backed push in 2006 to raise the state’s minimum wage.
Her husband is Tony Wyche — the spokesman for Robin Carnahan’s senate run. Howard replaces former Russ Carnahan spokesman Glenn Campbell, who is staying in Missouri to work for state auditor Susan Montee.
This weekend, the Tea Party is planning to further target Carnahan’s office for their round of “recess rally” protests to coincide with Congress’ summer break.

How come the PD hasn’t reported that Carnahan’s smirk is showing up on milk cartons around town since he appears to be MIA.

Wait - did you say she worked for SEUI - you mean the same group that showed up in matching tees to Carnahan’s aging, ahem, health insurance forum, and were escorted into a side door for the handicapped and led to their reserved seating? That SEUI? What a co-incidence. So she is the SEUI organizer in chief.

Why is your new boss so rock stupid as to continue to NOT READ the bill… HR 3200… that he has to know he’s going to be asked about?
Follow up: Are you going to read the bill and then explain it to him? Maybe using big colorful pictures or maybe balloon animals?

First, the Federal Reserve hires a lobbyist, because too many co-sponsors are appearing on H.R. 1207, Ron Paul’s bill to Audit the Fed. After the inbred bailouts failed to “stimulate” anything except the Goldman Sachs alumni, public sentiment soured, and as a first, the Federal Reserve used someone outside the Fed to lobby Congress. Evidently a stronger argument than “free money” was required. It turns out, she also lobbied for Enron, and while the “pitch” must have looked familiar, she was let go relatively quickly.
Now Rep. Carnahan sees fit, after his Mehlville Town Hall has been used by the SEIU, both as a recruiting tool, and as an attempt to paint all political opponents as racists…to hire a P.R. person who worked for this same SEIU. Has the Congressman thus delivered his edict, on just what happened there?
And why is the argument that we cannot afford this, extremist?

There has been a request to the Missouri Attorney General to investigate connections to John D. Podesta, to the Center for American Progress (an ACTION tank),to the M.I.A.C. report, to the subsequent D.H.S. report also on “Modern Militia Movements”, and to questionable incidents in our City, involving obscure political sects, with strong ties to…the SEIU, that have been utilizing the National press, with amazingly similar talking points, to beat this drum loud and long. Racism.
We just had an election to end perceived racism. And now the Lee Atwaters of the present day would cast all non-believers as racists… as infidels, as inhuman, in their Progressive fatwah.

Despite the repeated neo-conservative nazi’s attempts at trashing Russ and the entire Carnahan name, I predict a VERY GOOD year for both Carnahan’s in 2010. When’s the next Astroturf tea-bagging event scheduled?

It’s pretty disgusting. Funny we never see any of the SEUI-ACORN-Organizing for America connections reported in the PD - I guess that is because they are part of the state-run media.
Russ Carnahan has a lower rating (= more liberal) from the American Conservative Union than Lacy Clay. And I can tell you from personal experience, Congressman Clay has better manners too. If Carnahan thinks being a rude jerk and a left-winger while representing a centrist district with a large swatch of rural Missouri … well, Ms. Howard certainly has her work cut out for her.
