Watch: Matthews plays Hardball with Blagojevich
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Earlier, colleague Kevin McDermott provided the blow-by-blow of former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s spirited interview with Hardball host Chris Matthews. Above is the tape of yesterday’s show.

Someone needs to play hardball with Blago. He just don’t get it any other way and I’m not sure he gets it at all.
Don’t you just love how Matthews disparagingly mispronounces Cheyney’s name as Chee-nee
Sorry, Jake, I have to disagree with your other post on this and the posters to it; I thought Chris Matthews was rightly tough, but thought Blagojevich held his own (so to speak); that’s his story and he’s sticking to it; what else could he do. Of course, what do I know, I think you make sense sometimes, too.
Hanson Gregory: Actually what I just love is when people take things as fact just because a lot of people start saying it. His name is correctly pronounced Chee-nee. Here are his own words. http://quest.cjonline.com/stories/120500/gen_1206004856.shtml It took me less than two minutes to find this online.
Can you name another national Talking Head that makes a point of pronouncing it
as CHEE-ney ?
Watch Matthews enough ( it’ll be painful ) and you’ll see him flip-flop between
CHEE-nee and at other times as Chain-ey.
Btw, 12 years ago I sat on a ranch porch in Jackson Hole talking politics for two hours
with the 78 year-old ranch owner. She had known the Cheney family many years and
pronounced the name as Chay-nee.
