Another Missouri lawmaker arrested on suspicion of DWI
Meadows
JEFFERSON CITY — The bad news for Democrats since the Missouri Legislative session ended continues to pile up. State Rep. Tim Meadows, D-Imperial, was the latest to run into legal trouble.
In a letter to constituents this weekend, Meadows apologized for getting arrested for suspicion of Driving While Intoxicated.
The Mother Ship has the story.
Meadows is the second local Democrat state representative this year to be arrested on suspicion of DWI, following state Rep. Michael Corcoran, D-St. Ann, who was arrested earlier this year.
Three other Democratic local officials have faced legal problems of a different kind. Former state Sen. Jeff Smith, D-St. Louis, and former state representatives Steve Brown and T. D. El-Amin all pleaded guilty to federal charges over the past couple of months. Smith and Brown pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice while El-Amin pleaded guilty to bribery.

This is now so common with legislators breaking the law that we’re desensitized to look at the crime and think “Well at least this one didn’t molest a child (yet).”
Doh!!
This is outragous, this man had written legislature for this state that have ruined countless lives because they made a bad choice to drink and drive, he is on every state committee that writes and regulates dwi laws, and MO is one of the toughest in the nation, he should resign immediatley,
He got to be bummin….
Must be the vast “Right Wing Conspiracy” at work! My question is why we can’t have our useless US Senator Claire McCaskill or Worthless Mayor Fancies Slay fall to a legal issue. I am sure that if you scratch the surface of either one, there is plenty of corruption to be found.
I personally lament Sen. Smith’s legal woes. He was my State Senator, and he and his office truly cared about assisting me. However, if you do the crime you must do the time, I only wish we would hold more politicians accountable for their misdeeds, instead we just keep re-electing them.
throw the rascals out of office in spite or because they hold office. Espeically in St L city. When one party holds power too long they think they are immune to ‘normal’ morals and ethics. It’s time the Republicans strted running for office, even if it means defeat, until they can build a constituency.
During the 2004 election cycle I met a Democrat who stated the Republicans held national office too long and should be thrown out. I asked him about the St Louis city situation where the Dems have held power for 40+ years. He spluttered an incoherent answer that essentially said as long as Democrats hold office, it’s acceptable and they shouldn’t be removed. What’s good the the Democrats is not good for the Republicans.
Mr Messenger: Is this story meant to let us know that a Representative has been arrested for DWI? Or is it meant to be a slur on the democrat party? Six lines about Meadows…eight lines about the democrat party. Now, to let you know, I am a republican. I was taken aback that the PD would run an anti-democrat story like this one!! You could have blamed it on Bush!!!!!
…..and so it goes.
