Crowd, cadets await Biden’s arrival at county cops training depot
WELLSTON — A modest crowd and a stage full of police cadets are awaiting the arrival of Vice President Joe Biden, who will speak here soon to promote the administration’s stimulus efforts.
The audience at the St. Louis County Police and Fire Training Center includes some individuals who picked up tickets to the event and others with some Democratic connections: St. Louis City Democratic chair Brian Wahby, a new DNC member, is here along with St. Louis County Executive Charlie A. Dooley.
Gov. Jay Nixon is also expected to join Biden — who is running a tad behind schedule.
After this, Biden will take a short drive to near Forest Park, where he’ll headline a fundraiser for Senate hopeful Robin Carnahan at the home of St. Louis attorney Alan Mandel.

Let’s hope Dooley gives a speech. Perhaps he’ll wow the veep with his brilliant insights and articulate expression, and they’ll whisk him off to Washington for bigger and better things.
Nick, if only the County Executive was white. Or even a trace like Obama.
Ah, jeez. There’s GARRISON with his racialism… Again.

I don’t care if he is white or black. I’d just like him to be qualified, talented, articulate, and honest. I know, it’s an awful lot to ask. But it’s hard to imagine somebody LESS qualified to serve as county executive than Dooley. A diploma from Wellston High, a couple of years in Nam, and a gold watch from Boeing as a “General Services Specialist.” Absolutely nothing to qualify him for such an important position as this. It’s disgraceful - and it’s no wonder we have such a poorly managed county government. Thanks, Charlie!
Joe Biden. An hour late. Insulting. Mr. Wagman, an hour is NOT a tad late. Quit making excuses for these people.
