Harold Ford Jr. to deliver timely ethics lecture at Wash U.

Ford
ST. LOUIS — The annual ethics talk could have special meaning at Washington University this year.
Former Tennessee Congressman Harold Ford Jr. is set to give the annual Elliot Stein Lecture in Ethics this afternoon at Wash. U. — which has been stung by a pair of recent ethical transgressions.
Earlier this year, an orthopedic surgeon affiliated with the school turned in his resignation letter to the university after federal investigators claimed he had falsified research results. The university also told a Senate investigation that the doctor hid his consulting ties to a company that made one of the drugs he was studying.
And, of course, in August, former State Sen. Jeff Smith, an adjunct professor of political science, stepped down after pleading guilty to a political cover-up that included lying to the FBI. Smith also gave up his teaching obligations at the school.
Smith’s co-defendant, Steve Brown, was a graduate of Wash. U’s Law School.
Ford, 39, a Democrat, was considered a rising national star, but he left Washington after losing a bid for U.S. Senate in 2006. Ford is currently chairman of the Democratic Leadership Council.
His 4 p.m. lecture at Graham Chapel is free and open to the public.

Harold Ford, Jr. talking about ethics… Bwaaa-ha-ha!
He’s from a Memphis political family so crooked they could’ve slept in a Beale Street trombone…
Harold Ford Jr., with an American Conservative Union rating of 20%, is chairman of the “moderate” Democratic Leadership Council. That’s a hoot.
Harold Fords problem is he have no real passion and stand on anything other than to play it safe in wimpy attempts even if it means selling his own beliefs down the drain to appease whatever surroundings that he is in. He likes to be in agreement with whoever is immediately in his presence at any given time. Way too wimpy. I hope he never runs for another office.
I generally vote Republican and did so in ‘06 when I lived in Tennessee and voted for Bob Corker. But Harold Jr. impressed me in his campaign. Got a chance to meet him a couple of times and found him to be refreshing even though I disagreed with him on several issues.
D Walker, thank you for continuing to write. Because you continue to prove you actually know very little. I got to know Harold Ford, Jr. You didn’t. Please D. Walker, go to work for Charlie Rangel. He needs your help.
daHood,
You are free to your opinion and me, mind. What is it about that that you don’t grasp?
Wouldn’t one with good rational sense ask someone what they thought about some person or situation instead of assuming as if they were some stupid hick?
daHood,
By the way, you having such high regards for him only assures me and verifies that I have pegged him correctly. Thanks alot.
Correction:
You are free to your opinion and me, [mine]. What is it about that that you don’t grasp?
I sure got under D. Walker’s skin. Good. ‘Cause D. Walker is the wimp, not Harold Ford, Jr.
