Iowa Rep. chides NFL commish over Limbaugh’s Rams bid

WASHINGTON — Here’s a question that has probably never been uttered, courtesy of Iowa Rep. Steve King:

“Are you prepared to level the same charges against Fergie and J. Lo., or are you prepared to apologize to Rush Limbaugh today?”

The explanation? King was questioning National Football League Commissioner Roger Goodell on Wednesday during a congressional hearing about football player safety. The questioning turned to conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh, who was part of a group looking to buy the St. Louis Rams earlier this month. Limbaugh was rebuffed in his attempt, in part because comments about Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb that some have deemed racially insensitive had become a distraction.

King, an outspoken House Republican, argued that Limbaugh shouldn’t have been turned away given that singers Jennifer Lopez (also known as J. Lo.) and Fergie (full name: Stacy Ferguson) are minority owners of the NFL’s Miami Dolphins.

“I would take you as a man of your word, but you have a couple of owners that have performed lyrics and songs that are far more offensive,” King said. “In fact, I don’t think anything that Rush Limbaugh said was offensive. With Fergie and J. Lo., between the two of them, alleged that the CIA are terrorists and liars, they have promoted sexual abuse of women, they’ve used the n-word, verbal pornography, recreational drug use, etc., and they are owners of the Dolphins.”

Goodell responded that the NFL doesn’t “move toward divisive actions” and dismissed King’s line of questioning.

Limbaugh, never one to miss the chance at a verbal jab, responded on his Web site today by calling Goodell “a total weasel.”

Ah, thanks to god for Steve King, whose run for governor will keep the Democrats in charge of Iowa for another four years!

Where do I send a political contribution to Steve King?

I am a huge fan of Rush’s. Though I think it’s unfair what happened to him, that’s the breaks. The group that said no to Rush did so base on a business decision, but I think they are a bunch of cowards. For Goodell to say what he did about Rush and ignore JoLo and Fergie is ridiculous. He does owe, if not an apology, an explanation.

We certainly don’t want anything racist in the NFL - right REDSKIN fans?

The NFL has been taken over by Thugs and Slugs and Goodell knows it so he won’t risk his job by defending Rush.

“…with Fergie and with J. Lo, they have, between the two of them, alleged that the CIA are terrorists and liars, they’ve promoted sexual abuse of women, they’ve used the N-word, verbal pornography, recreational drug use, et cetera, and they are owners of the Dolphins.”

Other than publicly accusing CIA of terrorism, Fergie & J. Lo mirror a fair number of NFL players.

first-is goodell the one who stopped rush?seriously,i thought checkett, and maybe some of the others involved decided to drop rush once all the commotion started.although i can’t stand to listen to rush, preventing him from purchasing anything he can afford is unfair.what i would really like to know,is why we would conduct congressional hearings for any “nfl” issues?player safety,or anything else for that matter.”mlb” hearings to find out if athletes were using steroids?i wonder if they were able to determine, that playing proffesional football might be dangerous.give me a break, what’s next?i have a sneaky suspision that those wwf wrestlers used steroids.let these enterprises police themselves, govt. dollars being spent on issues such as these boggles the mind.with everything our elected politic leaders are dealing with right now,to find time to spend on the nfl, makes one wonder… last-it was funny to see that one of the congressmans jabs at the entertainers was recreational drug use, rushie knows a little about that kind of stuff.IOWA…is this who you sent us?i don’t want anyone representing me,who would waste a moment of his time on such non-sense.how do they sleep at night?job well done congressman!

–If anybody owes Rush Limbaugh an apology, it is the PD, Leonard Pitts, Kevin Horrigan, Bryan Burwell, and the rest of the hypocritical and tumescent blowhards who like to think of themselves as enlightened thinkers. They are the ones, along with other national pundits, who whipped up the useful idiots into a frenzy of real hate.

–The real losers are the city, the team, and the players who would have benefitted greatly from a potential windfall of free publicity and endless devotion to the cause. I have also lost respect for Checketts, and hope he gets his just desserts.

–The real irony will be if it is revealed that Soros is revealed as a part of the new ownership group.

Is there any reason the NFL has to accept a drug-addled sex tourist as an owner?

Everything Rep King said is 100% true.

The race haters are on the other… the left side of this debate.
