Joe Ortwerth spurs abortion training flap
Joe Ortwerth, a major local newsmaker during his 12-year tenure as St. Charles County executive which ended in 2006, has been largely out of the media spotlight in his current role as a lobbyist for the Missouri Family Policy Council.
But he popped up today in an article by Post-Dispatch religion beat writer Tim Townsend on Washington University officials’ apology for suggesting that St. Louis University, a Catholic institution, participated in a program training physicians to perform abortions.
Ortwerth, a vocal opponent of abortion for many years, had complained in his Jeff City Update e-mail newsletter about the Washington University program and also mentioned that the program’s website had claimed that it was working with SLU.
A SLU official said that SLU never was involved with the program.

Wash U. is run by a cesspool of morally-bankrupt liberals that support the murdering a little child so that the mother can live conveniently. This is evident by the school’s large outpouring of support for our equally pathetic President-elect, who voted on several occasions to allow the murder of live-born children who survived a failed abortion. Kudos to Ortwerth for speaking the truth, much to the dissatisfaction of many of the Post’s staff, feminists, and other groups often associated with support of this evil procedure.
And lest I forget to mention that current polling data shows a majority of Americans are pro-life, and those numbers are growing, so the data goes against the liberal argument that legalized abortion is a “progressive” view.
–One can understand how “rationing life” can lead citizens to believe in the administration’s covert plan in “rationing health-care”.
–Or as they would have you believe, There’s too damn much freedom of life choices going on out there.
____Mr. Sam -
Who is our “President-elect?”
Did we just have a do-over of last November?
Geez, Sam, you sprayed us with hate spittle! Is there anyone you DON’T hate in your bitter resentment?
This is heartbreaking and shocking to think that premier teaching hospitals like Wash U and Barnes would sully their names and their reputations as healers by collaborating with a eugenic, racist, and ultimately anti-woman business like “Planned Parenthood”. (Many Missourans may not even realize that Planned Parenthood abortions - approximately 250,000 annually. They refered for adoption only 1 baby for every 180 according to their numbers a few years ago. They have well-documented eugenic and racist roots.)
Frankly it’s astonishing, given the irrefutable ultrasound-proven knowledge we have nowadays about the humanity and true life that a baby in the womb possesses, that ANY hospital would even think of associating itself with an abortion profiteer like “Planned Parenthood, much less that it would be Wash. U. and Barnes. Imagine training there in a REAL specialty or fellowship, one where you actually perfect ways to save patients’ lives - not kill off their offspring - and then you bump into a pariah of medicine, an “abortion fellow”. Off-putting to a young trainee to say the least. Or worse yet, you’re a patient and you have a miscarriage . . . and while you’re there your neighbor’s living baby is destroyed by one of these expert baby-assassins! Women and girls should be offered support (1-800-395-HELP 24/7, confidential) not abortion. Nobody wants an abortion. And it’s NOT health care.
This grim decision by Wash U. and Barnes to train doctors to do abortions is a corruption of the medical profession, an insult to the St. Louis community and all past trainees, and a great disservice to women. Remember, we don’t want an abortion though we might not some help bringing our pregnancies to term. Please end the program now.
Joe keep up the good work the last survey I saw was done by the Knights of Columbus, and it showed that 86% of the United States call them selves Pro-Life so Mr. Obama and his homies can sit on it.
Sam, you’re a fool living in a dream world. Good day, sir.
Jeff, if you think anybody but the Catholics puts any stock in the reliability of results of poll done by the Catholics, you’re so wrong it’s funny.
An actual unbiased, scientifically designed poll was done by Gallup this summer, and its results are here:
http://www.gallup.com/poll/122033/U.S.-Abortion-Attitudes-Closely-Divided.aspx
I am less concerned with what people call themselves as far as labels than I am with the responses to this question that they asked: “Do you think abortions should be legal in any circumstances, only under some circumstances, or illegal in all circumstances?” The percentage of any+some respondents totals 78%.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news regarding the failure of your little pet cause to allow federally-mandated government involvement in my most important, most private life decisions! Better luck next time!
Anyone connected to the horrifying ‘Dr.’ James Dobson should be brought up on charges of - inexcusable stupidity.
Ortwerth / Dobson / and The Knights of Columbus - not a grey cell amongst them to rub together.
It does Not matter what this trio, or their backwards followers have to say.
Reproductive Rights are Legal and shall remain so!
The anti - choice people can stomp their feet and shriek all they wish.
They can prostate themselves in front of a clinic and carry signs until they are weary.
But, it will be to no avail.
It is often said that a woman who has no control over her own body is nothing less than a slave.
And - slavery is illegal…
