JEFFERSON CITY — The fund-raising would come, Congressman Roy Blunt promised earlier this year after a lackluster first quarter performance in his race for U.S. Senate against Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan.

Indeed, it has. For the second quarter in a row, the Republican from Springfield outpaced Democrat Carnahan, though both candidates continued their pace of million-dollar quarters.

According to summary sheets of Federal Election Commission reports provided by the campaigns, Blunt raised $1.3 million to Carnahan’s $1.07 million this quarter. Blunt has an even larger advantage in cash on hand: $2.3 million to Carnahan’s $1.8 million.

Both candidates raised most of their money — more than $900,000 each — from individuals, while netting the rest from political committees.

“Our candidate is traveling the state with a message of common sense Missouri solutions, visiting with voters, telling people where he stands, answering questions and standing up for Missouri values,” said Blunt spokesman Rich Chrismer, in an e-mailed statement to reporters.

Carnahan e-mailed her supporters yesterday touting her fund-raising quarter.

Republican state Sen. Chuck Purgason, who is also running for Senate, hasn’t yet released his fund-raising report. He’s not expected to near the totals of Blunt or Carnahan.

Is Chrismer the rocket scientist who boxed up all of Scott Eckersly’s emails and sent them to reporters thinking they’d take he and Ed Martin’s twisted side in their delusional attempt to get rid of him?

Those Blunt’s sure do run with some mighty strange folks! Something tells me Robin is going to take this one in a walk!

Yeah, Warren, we all have dreams. Fortunately, my dreams are NOT about Robin Carnahan.

Carnahan is so not up to the Senate job that she hasn’t taken a reporter’s question in months. Runs with ACORN, just got caught with her office e-mails showing, see ad this page, click on. Just lost two fundraising periods to Blunt, back to back. Gets ballot titles tossed out of court for jimmying the language, to improperly influence voters. Some hotshot candidate, not.

Change her name and giver her $50,000, she probably couldn’t win an alderman job.

Everytime Blunt raises cash, my health insurance premiums increase.

Everytime Blunt gets another dollar, the price of gas goes up in the Blue parts of Missouri.

Am I the only Republican that is disgusted that these people are still in charge of our party? It guys like him, Tom Schweish, and Kenny Hulshof that have ruined our party. We need to do away with these Olympia Snow types like Schweish and the ethically challenged ones like Blunt.

I agree. I think we have a great opportunity in the next cycle but we need better candidates. Especially when it comes to Tom Schweich.

For the Senate seat, I pledge to not vote for anyone named Blunt or Carnahan.

Screw both of the politically inept, morally/ethically corrupt families.
