Dean, left, and Gingrich

If you’re heading to the face-off between Newt Gingrich and Howard Dean next week in Cape Girardeau, leave the video cameras and audio recorders at home: The host does not want any YouTube moments.

Gingrich, who was speaker of the U.S. House during the “Republican Revolution” of the mid-1990s, and Dean, former chairman of the Democratic National Committee, have agreed to debate one another on the topic of health care Wednesday at Southeast Missouri State University.

The event is open to the general public at $8 a ticket. Students, however, can get in free — after all, it’s their students activity dues that are paying the $85,000 in speaker fees to land the pair of political heavyweights.

Media are invited, but with restrictions.

“Video and audio recording of the debate is prohibited except as specified in the contracts with both speakers,” the university said in a news release.

Flash photography will also be limited to “the first five minutes of each speaker’s remarks from a designated area on the floor of the north side of the arena at the rear of a VIP seating area.”

For those who can’t make the event, there will be video clips available afterward — selected and distributed by the university.

Sounds like the conservative secrecy machine is in motion again with Newt leading the charge.

Ted– I realize that paranoia is rampant these days but…..

It costs $8 a ticket to see Dean and Gingrich. That means they (SEMO/DEAN/Gingrich) are doing this commercially and want to make additional money with the rebroadcast rights etc.

Ted, you are so out there. Where in this article does it say Newt is leading the charge? I bet you think I’m a racist for asking you that. Who are the ones trying to silence discontent? None other than your precious White House.

Odd, when Dean and Rove debated on 9/11/09 at Depauw University, it was free and they streamed it live for the full 90 minutes. Sounds like a SEMO issue.

Conservative secrecy machine? Last time I checked the conservatives weren’t the ones censoring media outlets, aka Fox News.

I’m thinking Newt doesn’t want any evidence or sound bites leaking out from his moronic statements after Howard Dean makesa a fool of him. Especially after Obama proves successful in healthcare reform and everyone is happy though some will never admit it.

After all the ethics violations and crimes commttied by Newt Gingrich, I should be astounded that anyone would listen to him, let alone grant him air time. But then again we have Rush Limbaugh, country music, and NASCAR to prove will still have a lot of really unintelligent, uninformed people in this country. Unfortunately they are allowed to breed, drive, and vote.
