On the week of Veteran’s Day, a veteran’s organization is airing an ad in Missouri seeking to convince the state’s U.S. Senate delegation that energy independence is a key component of national security.

According to the group, VoteVets.org, the ad will air 300 times in the state beginning mid-week. (Yes, 300 times, which sounds like a lot to me, but that’s what the group’s news release says.)

I wonder why they didnt include images of increased domestic drilling or nuclear plants. We could step up domestic oil production and get more than 5 million barrels a day, that just wouldnt fit the environazi meme.

That’s silly. You think we can essentially double US production if we “step up domestic oil production”?

Maybe they should have shown up for the Veterans day parade Saturday , to promote their most recent interest. They could have joined the hand ful of people that showed their support for our vets……..

VoteVets.org is a liberal political action group. I don’t expect them to mention it in their commercials, but it would be better journalism if you’d bring it up rather than leaving the uninformed reader to believe that they are simply “a veteran’s organization.”

Bond and McCaskill should vote for vets when it comes to the so-called climate change legislation. They should vote NO!

Instead, do as SiVisPacem Para Bellum suggested. Build more refineries, used natural gas and clean coal technologies! Taxing us even more will not result in energy independence except for the fact that there will be less business to conduct and less energy needed.

The “VoteVets” are right. We can achieve true energy independence through clean energy development. It will keep our nation safe and reduce the number of dangerous situations into which we put our men and women of service. The clean energy industry is already booming (in Missouri it has a 5.4% job growth rate) and the clean energy bill that McCaskill and Bond will vote on would allow this state and country to live up to our potential as clean energy developers. This industry would create jobs in communities across the nation–almost 36,000 in Missouri alone with passage of the clean energy bill–and the flush of investment caused by the bill would encourage competition between new firms, which means a better product and lower energy prices for Americans.

And at an estimated cost of three to four dollars a month for the average American, this is far from a tax bill. In fact, the EPA analysis of the bill found that most households’ utility bills would be LOWER because of LDC allocations and energy efficiency measures that the bill would encourage.

For our Vets and for all Americans, Bond and McCaskill should definitely vote in favor of the clean energy bill. It would keep America safe while growing our economy.
