With polls about to close, watch parties set to begin

If you haven’t made it to the polls yet, better do it soon — polls close at 7 p.m.

Technically, voters who are in line by then are eligible to cast their ballots, but waits have not been a problem at today’s low-turnout election.

That doesn’t mean, however, the post-election parties are not expecting a crowd.

In Kirkwood, supporters of the proposed smoking ban in St. Louis County will gather at the new location of Pi — the POTUS pizza purveyor – on Manchester Road.

Opponents of the ban will be in the Central West End at Herbie’s — which boasts a filtration system some have argued offers an alternative to smoke-free legislation.

Supporters of Democrat Stacey Newman, seeking to fill the State House seat vacated by Steve Brown, will gather at Schlafly Bottleworks in Maplewood. Newman’s opponent, Republican Dan O’Sullivan, will be nearby at Cousin Hugo’s bar and grill.

Across the city line, Joe Keaveny will be at John’s Town Hall across from Forest Park. Keaveny’s party will be the best for those who don’t care for suspense.

The St. Louis Democrat is the only name on the ballot to replace former state Sen. Jeff Smith, who resigned in August with Brown.

In Ballwin, the St. Louis Tea Party is holding a watch party, where they will be focused on results from the 23rd Congressional District in New York, as well as governor races in New Jersey and Virginia, that are the first major contests since Barack Obama was elected a year ago.

Jake’s posts often filled with “suspence”; and always suspenseful rambling.
:)
and btw, from listening to talk shows today, at lot of people are voting against ban because of exemptions for casinos and like that; if vote goes down but close, might have won without exemptions; maybe should have been 3 choices on ballot? up, down and no exemptions; taken by plurality? voting against cause of exemptions sort of cutting off nose to spite face; glad I’ve never done that says Bill whatever the opposite of nasally is.

What does “suspence” mean? Should I care for it? If I don’t, what happens?

Fixed that typo, guys — thanks. The spell-checker gets overtime on election nights.
