Slow pitching, pontificating

President Bush answered a softball question about what happens after the White House. He says his time there has been fun — he takes a jab at the furniture “like a museum” — but says he’s ready to return to Crawford.

“I guess I’m going to go home and mow the lawn.”

He says some days are better than others, but he’s stayed true to his principles.

“You can’t be shifting your principles in order to be the popular guy.”

He’s also talking about setting up a think tank in Texas, and in particular a presidential library at Southern Methodist University. He also says he’s interested in more faith-based initiatives. Perhaps a new Bush charity?

He’s ending with a joke about picking the rug in the Oval Office. “When you’re short on a subject, and I’m short on rugs, delegate.”

That was a segue into picking the next president as someone who knows how to delegate and picking good solid advisors. “Their job by the way once a president makes up his mind, is to say, “Yes sir, Mr. President.’”

He delegated the rug choice to his wife. He said it “looks like the sun” and speaks to his optimism.

however . . . “some will shift their principles in order to be a popular guy with Oil Executives.”
No one at the ‘members only’ Country Clubs talks about George W. Bush
they are busy discussing Rev. Wright & Bill Ayres . . . the important stuff.

Presidents will be remember for what they read while on vacation.

George W. Bush wants to set-up a think tank in Texas….? Funny stuff.
I understand Laura is very much concerned that former White House staffers and cabinet members will write several “tell-all” books about the President’s idiocy.

A think tank in Washington D.C. might have been helpful.

Yeah, he sure knew how to pick his advisors.

Bless your hearts, correspondents, for braving the elements and enduring the orations and very presence of W during his visit today, but you can probably tell by the meager posts, we just all have such Bush fatigue. He’s not even worth criticizing any more. Bush said blah, blah, blah…………. *yawn. There is nothing he can say that he hasn’t already that would drop a single jaw! Hate him. Ready to move on.

it seems like the liveblogging would have worked better with updating a single thread rather than creating a large number of threads with very few comments on any individual one. What makes the “liveness” exciting is that a group of people are presumably engaged in the same activity at the same time; when you spread out attention over several threads you lose that effect.

I agree. Mr Jadhav seems to be the only one who loves to create many new threads on the same event. Maybe he needs to see his name in print. Please do us all a favor and stop the insanity. Unless you are getting paid by the thread, there is no need for it. You are taking the fun out of this blog.

but says he’s ready to return to Crawford…“I guess I’m going to go home and mow the lawn.”

“..return” to Crawford? But he didn’t live there before he went to Washington to wreck the country. That was an election contrivance purchased in ‘99 to pretend he was a “common man.”

“When you’re short on a subject, and I’m short on rugs, delegate.”

Good Lord, what a moron.

““They’re job by the way once a president makes up his mind,…”

Jeez, he even speaks wrong on the simplest of things; it seems as if he spoke in the contraction form “they are’ when he should have used the possessive “their.” ;-)

I’m taking notes of names to use if and when there is ever an Obama Presidency.

Thanks Glic for catching my typos. It’s fixed above. I was typing too fast at that point.

It’s an easy one to do, Adam, especially when you’re live blogging. It was more fun blaming it on Bush speaking wrong, though. :)

71% of the nation is ready for him to go home and mow the lawn also. Worst president ever! Everyone knows it even though 29% would never have the stones to admit it.
