Lafayette High shortstop Goro commits to Wichita State

Special to the Post-Dispatch

Lafayette High shortstop Nate Goro committed to Wichita State last week.

“I chose Wichita State because I loved their coaches, I loved the town, I loved everything about the school and felt really comfortable there,” he said.

Goro, who is entering his senior year, picked the Shockers over Missouri, Baylor and Missouri State.

The shortstop played with the Rawlings Prospects this summer and batted .328 in the spring at Lafayette, with five extra-base hits, 10 RBIs, 21 runs scored and 10 stolen bases. He also had an on-base percentage of .411.

“Nate is an outstanding defensive infielder,” said Lafayette coach Steve Miller. “He had a really good summer. He’s got a great arm, quick hands. He’s a really good baserunner. When he plays, he’s a complete player.”

Goro, who also plays football for the Lancers, will be competing in the Area Code Games in California next week.
