It’s a winner
Dalton overthrows his receiver in the end zone, but he was covered well, anyway.
Four seconds left, Hazelwood Central takes over.
Congrats, Hazelwood Central, a 25-20 winner.

Is this the first time two schools from the same school district have won state titles in the same year?
Sound like it was as good of a game as East game was congrats to both Hazelwood schools
Congrats to the Hazelwood Central Hawks football program! State Champs for the third time! YES!
My Alma Mater did it again! WOO-HOO!!!
BSS played a great game and we made our mistakes, but we prevailed!
Was there at the Dome last time we won in 1996, it was my senior year!
Great job, everyone! Live it up tonight, HAWKS!!!
Class of 1997 says… AWESOME JOB!!! ![]()
Congratulations to Hazelwood Central.
Why is it that we in St. Louis were able to watch all of the Illinois Football championships on a Charter Cable station, but only the 1A, 3A and 5A games were shown in the St. Louis area on Friday by Fox Sports?
Why does Illinois do such a better job of promoting their high school sports championships?
Actually, this is Central’s FOURTH state title. Congrats to the Hawks! You showed all the doubters (including the Post-Dispatch, which picked both East and Central to lose). Well done!

Jeez, St. Louis schools have been handled for the last five years in the state championships — and most notably the Suburban North teams — so it wasn’t unreasonable to figure that Hazelwood East and Hazelwood Central were underdogs.
Believe me, the Post-Dispatch high school staff is as happy as anyone that St. Louis football might be catching up to the West side of the state. It’s not as much fun covering lop-sided losses.
Class of ‘79 Awesome….way to go
Good to see the Central Tradition continues…..Go Hawks!
Congratulations to the Hawks, Spartans and The Suburban Norh -2 State Champions and a 29 win 5 loss record for the Suburban North against out of league teams (who said the Suburban North was down)—Way to go Hawks-(12-2)—-I have been waiting 12 years for this championship. You had the spirit. What a great year to watch football in St Louis
Congratulations Hawks!! Well done!
