St. Louis hoops squads on display Saturday

On Friday and Saturday, the Missouri state football championships will be decided at the Edward Jones Dome in downtown St. Louis.

On Saturday in Cape Girardeau, several of the top basketball teams in the St. Louis area will participate in the Pepsi Showcase at the Show Me Center and give fans a glimpse of what they might see in March battling for the state championships in Columbia.

Six of the top teams in St. Louis will play in a total of five games.

Hazelwood Central will play Cape Central at 1 p.m.

Miller Career Academy, led by Missouri State signee Jerome Jones, will play Pinckneyville (Ill.) at 2:45 p.m.

McCluer, which features Lonnie and Shaquille Boga, will play Poplar Bluff at 4:30 p.m.

Lafayette, led by Illinois signee Tyler Griffey, will play Sikeston at 6:15 p.m.

The final game of the day matches two St. Louis teams, the Blue Devils vs. the Red Devils. Defending Missouri Class 3 champion Maplewood, led by two-sport standout Bryant Allen, will play Chaminade, led by guards Brandon Lockhart and Bradley Beal, at 8 p.m.
