Festus in American Legion World Series
Festus Post 253 will open play in the American Legion World Series on Friday in Fargo, N.D., against Salisbury, N.C.
Festus, the Missouri state champion, won the Central Plains regional with a 4-1 record and is 38-4 overall. Post 253 entered the regional on a 13-game winning streak and on its first two games behind the pitching of Matt Stites and Travis Hayes.
After a one-run loss to Pittsburg, Kansas, Festus came back with two wins to advance to the series.
Owen Conway, a senior at St. Pius X, was the regional tournament MVP with three home runs, including two grand slams.
Stites struck out 11 in the team’s opening win over Rapid City, S.D., and Ryan Yuengel finished the regional with 12 strike outs in a win over Pittsburg, Kansas.

This is the best thing that happened to Festus in a long time. Bring home a winner gentleman make us proud.
