Webster Groves transfer Desi Brown has been cleared by Missouri State High School Activities Association and will be eligible to play in Friday night’s Suburban South Conference game against visiting Parkway North.

Brown is the senior quarterback-defensive back who has orally committed to play at East Carolina next year. He transferred to Webster Groves from a high school in North Carolina, then left Webster Groves and went back to North Carolina only to return to Webster not long after.

This gives the Statesmen three quarterbacks — Brown joins senior Derrick Dilworth and junior Marquis Clemons — and Coach Cliff Ice some versatility with his lineup. Brown, Dilworth and Clemons are all capable of playing different positions, so all three are expected to be valuable contributors for the area’s third-ranked large school.

Webster Groves (3-0) is averaging 36 points per game. Dilworth has completed 18 of 40 pass attempts (45 percent) for 350 yards, with seven touchdowns and no interceptions, and has also run for 84 yards. Clemons has completed two of four passes for 95 yards and two touchdowns but has run for a team-high 133 yards and scored three touchdowns.
