Three area athletes finalists for Heisman Award
Althoff soccer player Megan Pawloski, Jerseyville soccer player Brendan Kimble and Warrenton basketball player Meghan Stark are three area scholar-athlete finalists for the 2009 Wendy’s High School Heisman Award.
The state winners will be announced on Nov. 7. The national finalists will be announced as surprises over the next 14 days after the state finalist winner is named and the national winner will be announced on Dec. 12 on Heisman weekend in New York City.
The 20 finalists from Illinois and 20 from Missouri were chosen from over 50,000 seniors who applied nationwide for the award. Of that group, 10,848 school winners were selected and from that group three are from the St. Louis area.
The award is given to students who embody the Heisman spirit of hard work and dedication through their outstanding achievements in athletics, academics and community/school leadership.
