Recipes contests have prizes large and small
Tis the season… for recipe contests. Here are some that arrived in my inbox over the last month:
Mama Lucia “Merry Meatballs” Holiday Recipe Contest. First prize is a 6-quart Crock-Pot Smart-Pot with Countdown Slow Cooker (value $70). Deadline: Nov. 22. Recipes can be submitted to: mamaluciacontest@sspr.com with the subject line “Merry Meatballs Contest.” Details: quakermaidmeats.com.
Texas Rio Star Grapefruit’s Fit, Fun and Fabulous Recipe Contest. Three recipe categories: salads, entrees and desserts, and two divisions: home cooks and professionals. Cash prizes of $500 each for the best recipe in each category and division. A grand-prize winner from each division will be awarded an additional $1,000. Deadline: Feb. 15. Crisco Grilling Hall of Fame Contest. “At-home grillmasters” share their favorite recipes; winner to be inducted into the Hall of Fame and will receive a $5,000 backyard makeover. Deadline: Dec. 15. Details, entry form: GrillingHallofFame.com.
California Walnut Board’s Smart Holiday Menu Makeover recipe contest. Five winners will receive a KitchenAid stand mixer. Deadline: Dec. 31. Details, entry form: walnuts.org/contest.
Martha White Muffin Mix Challenge. Grand prize: $1,000 plus trip to the Grand Ole Opry; second prize is $500 plus trip, third prize is $250 plus trip. Deadline: Dec. 31. Details, rules: marthawhite.com.
Marx Foods’ Comfort Foods recipe contest. Winner gets a $250 gift certificate (and a set of biodegradable plates). Deadline: Nov. 17. Enter by posting a recipe on the company’s blog: marxfood.com.
Simply Manischewitz Cook-Off is looking for original, easy-to-make entrees using at least one Manischewitz product. Grand prize: GE Profile Kitchen appliances valued at more than $25,000. Deadline: Dec. 31. Details, entry form: manischewitz.com.
