Punch up a party with watermelon-based drink recipe
Graduation parties, wedding showers, anniversary parties — May and June are party season. Sure you could combine soda and sherbet and call it punch. With a little more effort, however, you can whip up this refreshing conconcotion. Use a seedless (or seeded) watermelon, whirling chunks of fruit in a food processor or blender to make the puree. The recipe and photo are courtesy of the National Watermelon Promotion Board.
WATERMELON-GREEN TEA PUNCH
8 cups watermelon puree
8 cups unsweetened green tea, chilled
4 cups purple grape juice
1 cup cherry juice (optional)
1 (2-liter) bottle ginger ale or 2 bottles Chardonnay
Blend ingredients together in a large beverage container and chill. Serve over ice. Makes 36 servings.
