Judith Evans is the food and travel editor for the Post-Dispatch.
Ice cream, watermelon or any fresh fruit, smoothies, lemonade, gazpacho, salads. Just about anything fresh and cool hits the spot.
Of course being in a nice cool swimming pool always makes the heat more bearable.
Popsicles work for me.
A glass, well actually at least two, of a chilled Albarino from Spain
Beer is a food. Brewing beer was how the ancient Egyptians kept the rats out of the grain. Soldiers and key craftsmen were given a daily ration to support good nuitrition and hard work. Of course, it was a thicker, hoppier brew than we drink in America.
Ice cream gets my vote for a quick cool-down. Hey, anybody ever tried a beer and ice cream float?
