Blood sugars keep falling
I recently went to my doctor for my three month check up. My hemoglobin level is 7.3. Normal levels are 7.0 or less. I have reduced my blood sugar levels from 8.3 in March to 7.3 in June. My exercise and eating habits are beginning to pay off.
I have lost 14 pounds. I continue to walk and watch what I eat. I will continue after this health challenge is over. Being part of the health challenge has helped a lot!



Here’s a mantra for you: "I survived Vietnam; I can meet this challenge." That’s Smith talking. His ankle was permanently damaged during combat. Now he wants to lose 50 pounds and get his blood sugar levels under control so he can be around long enough to watch his three young grandchildren grow up. "I thought this (Healthy & Fit Challenge) would put me out in the open," he says. "And I have the feeling that if I fail this time, I’d let not only myself down but the readers."
