Ska’s the Limit Saturday at Off Broadway

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

NYC’s the Toasters come to town Saturday to play a KDHX benefit at Off Broadway.

The third wave ska band has been around since 1981, with Robert ‘Bucket’ Hingley being the sole original member (hey, at least it’s not the backup drummer from ‘81…)

Last year, they released a new studio album, “One More Bullet,” to celebrate their 25th anniversary the year before. They are said to be the longest running second or third wave ska band in the country.

And they are a good fit for this show, as KDHX’s Ska’s the Limit is the longest continuously running ska show in the world — 17 years.

Paul Stark, host of Ska’s the Limit, expects an early evening sellout, so skankers are encouraged to buy tickets now (http://www.offbroadwaystl.com/).

You can stop burning your clothes after coming home from the bar.

Off Broadway is now smoke free with a smoking area outside in a sheltered area. On a related note, Steve Smith told me that the Royale will go smoke free on March 31. Smith recently held a semi-formal survey and over 95% — including plenty of smokers – voted to clear the air. Smoking will be permitted outside in the garden.

Another Off Broadway update, the Jon Hardy and the Public show tonight is happening (the bar cancelled last night’s show due to the ice.) Nashville’s Jeremy Lister will open.
