Junior Brown brings old style country to Beale Sat.
Matt Fernandes
St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Mounds, Oklahoma’s Junior Brown returns to town with his Guit-steel in tow — a “double-necked machine that marries the six-stringed guitar with its steel counterpart.”

Brown blasts through a lively mix of tunes spanning country, blues, Tex-Mex, Western swing and rock and roll. If Wayne Hancock (also at the Beale on 5/23) is the Hank Williams of modern country, Brown is the Ernest Tubb.

Brown has been stopping in St. Louis for over a decade, though I first remember seeing him open for (and upstage) the Violent Femmes in the late-1980s at the Warfield in San Fransisco.
