Photos: She Wants Revenge at Pageant
Through good fortune I ran into my friend, local photographer and frequent Post-Dispatch contributor Katherine Bish, at the She Wants Revenge show on Wednesday at the Pageant. She was kind enough to commandeer my camera and take these great shots of the SoCal band.
SWR, headlining the Nylon Magazine Tour, put on a fabulous show. The sparse crowd was in goth heaven as the band played in the shadows of multicolored dark lights and fog. The ultra cool Justin Warfield used his baritone voice with authority, summoning David Bowie and Richard Butler of the Psychedelic Furs. Multi-instrumentalist Adam Bravin laid down highly danceable grooves, reminiscent of Joy Division and Depeche Mode.
Though it was nice to be able to find a seat, the low turnout was a disappointment. Perhaps the show suffered due to the Raconteurs playing the next night.

I was at the show. SWR put on an amazing set! I saw them at Pop’s a few years ago, and the crowd at the Pageant was much larger. I can’t wait for them to come back!
i wasn’t at that show but i was at the wiltern last month to see them and the place was half-EMPTY. it’s pretty sad because the wiltern isn’t that big of a place.
i still love them though they are great. i just hope they can keep on truckin’ because i heard they were DROPPED from their record label
SWR FOREVER!!!
