Gentleman Auction House, our town’s indie overachievers, were the featured band on Daytrotter.com yesterday, an national site that offers up exclusive versions of tracks “by a lot of your next favorite bands.”
The septet just released their full-length debut, “Alphabet Graveyard,” this week on the Emergency Umbrella label. They are known for their punchy pop songs with a variety of instruments thrown into the mix such as keys, horns and xylophone.
They have maintained a strong presence here while picking up some strong festival slots around the Midwest. They will also be performing at New York’s influential CMJ festival in October. Right about now, they are getting ready to perform at a record store BBQ in Dallas. They’ll be home in time to open for What Made Milwaukee Famous at Off Broadway on July 31.
Selected tour dates:
July 26 – Dfest, Tulsa, Oklahoma
July 31 - Off Broadway with What Made Milwaukee Famous & Black Joe Lewis
Aug 16 - St. Louis Full Moon Festival (I’m not sure what this is yet – anyone?)
Sept 19 - Pygmalion Music Festival with Yo La Tengo and Black Mountain. Champaign, Ill.
Sept 20 - Forward Music Festival with Neko Case, Bob Mould, Headlights and Detroit Cobras. Madison, Wis.
