Local singer Vijoy puts on benefit concert Saturday at Lucas

Vijoy Rao & The Removers, a local acoustic rock outfit, will play a benefit for the local chapter of the National Kidney Foundation this Saturday at the Lucas School House.
Last year, Rao gave the ultimate gift to his father in donating his kidney to him.
“This cause has been close to my heart literally and figuratively,” said Rao, who has played blues rock in local clubs for a decade. “It was not a difficult decision at all. People seldom get to pay their parents back in life. We’re both doing very well now.”
