pet1.jpgPitchfork.com reports today that Nashville’s lovable young rebels Be Your Own Pet played their final show last night in London. (Photos here.)

“We thank you for all your love and support these past few years — its been a blast but the time has come for the 4 of us to go our separate ways,” the band wrote on its website. I haven’t seen any reports of why the split occurred, but the members were amicable enough to play four shows in the UK after the decision was made early this month.

They last played here at the Pageant, electrifying a less than sold out crowd with a typical set of controlled chaos.

I wonder if the kids will come to regret this decision, as achieving the heights – in sales and notoriety – they reached will not be easy to repeat in their future bands.

Talented singer Jemina Pearl Abegg is sure to surface somewhere. Jonas Stein and John Eartherly currently play in Turbo Fruits (allies of St. Louis’ Radical Sons.) Nathan Vasquez plays in Deluxin. Good luck, we’ll miss ya.

They will be missed. Turbo Fruits rule though.
