Haven’t you ever wanted to be one of those bootleg geeks who sets up a mini recording studio in the middle of a packed concert, all the while being knocked around by annoyed fans?

Me neither.

You can hear recent live shows from indie and mainstream bands by embracing your inner NPR nerd. Check out www.npr.org/liveconcerts for high quality audio recordings of acts like Tom Waits, Black Keys, the Walkmen, Raconteurs, Fleet Foxes (Fox, Oct. 13) and Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks (Pageant, Nov. 1). Look for the strong collection of 2008 SXSW performances.
