pat-saj.jpgLast time we checked in with the Pat Sajak Assassins, they were playing sporadic gigs while putting the finishing touches on their second album.

The spastic and melodious fellows are finally ready to share, which they will do this Thursday at Mangia Italiano.

The 10-track record, “Lunch!?!,” is instrumental save for a few vocoder parts and a vocal track from Andy Patania. When asked why he favored instrumentals, guitarist Joe Freeman cited superstition.

“I had a band in college and it started to fall apart as soon as I added vocals, so told myself, ‘Maybe I should avoid them,” he said, adding that he’ll likely use more vocals on the next album. “Ever since then, it’s felt natural and fitting.”

Drummer Harold Covey designed the cover art, which Freeman described as an “unappetizing thing with tentacles.”

On Friday, the band will embark on a short Southern tour taking them to Memphis, New Orleans and Houston.
