As if there wasn’t enough musical happenings around town this weekend…

Don’t forget that local indie rock band Helium Tapes will throw their official CD release show Saturday night at the Schlafly Tap Room. There’s no cover, so make sure and pony up the bones for the great disc. Midtown Thieves and Lindbergh Babies open.

Other worthy shows Saturday include Ha Ha Tonka with Backyard Tire Fire (CD release) at the Lucas, Dark Meat with Bunnygrunt at the Billiken Club, the Play:STL festival in the Loop, Kristeen Young at the Bluebird and the Detroit Cobras with the 7 Shot Screamers at the Off Broadway (check back later today for my interview.)

All that and I didn’t even mention the Eagles show.
