The Mae Shi, playing Gargoyle Sat., remix Christian Bale rant
Are you over it after listening to Christian Bale’s Terminator rant and the media ruckus that followed?
L.A. electro punk band The Mae Shi, playing Wash U’s Gargoyle Saturday night, is asking fans to revisit the brouhaha with their new song, “R U Professional.”
Earlier this month, the pranksters released the new wave ditty using the jerkiest clips of Bale’s on-set rant against a cinematographer. The results are pretty funny.
“We thought [the tape] was so crazy that we, The Mae Shi, wrote and recorded a song about it,” the band said in a statement. “We should clarify and say that this isn’t really a Mae Shi song, it’s a tribute song we made to celebrate the epic-ness of Christian Bale.”
Known for their fun-filled take on new wave and punk, the Mae Shi have been at it since 2002. They played the Bluebird (now the Firebird) last July.
Their third release, HLLLYH, came out a year ago and the band is working on a new EP.
