NY’s Asobi Seksu plays Firebird Sat., radio show today
Brooklyn’s Asobi Seksu makes their first visit to the Firebird club this Saturday. They’ve previously played the old Lucas School House and the Way Out Club.
Led by spritelike singer Yuki Chikudate and guitarist James Hanna, the quartet plays lush, dream pop in the vein of Blonde Redhead. It’s shoegaze at its core, though accessible in a way that fans of the Sundays would understand.
Their third studio album, Hush, is out now on Polyvinyl. Vocals are sung in both Japanese and English.
The band will do an interview and live session today at 1:15 (St. Louis time) on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic radio show out of LA. It will be archived if you miss it. Click here to watch/listen.
